Welcome to the Department of Medicine; A Harvard Medical School Affiliate.

Clinically, our staff provides inpatient and outpatient primary care in a variety of health care settings. This includes providing medical services to: long-term chronic care patients in Roslindale and Dedham; short-term care patients in the Recuperative Services Units and the Medical Acute Care Unit. Also, to residents at our Independent and Assisted Living.

Our mission is to provide excellent care to geriatric patients in multiple settings (the long-term care institution, the home, the assisted living facility and the acute care hospital), to design and analyze new approaches to care through research, and to teach others what we know.

The hallmark of this Department is its dedication to promoting excellence in the field of academic geriatric medicine. Our faculty is engaged in clinical care, research, and teaching medical students, medical residents and other trainees. They collaborate with the staff of the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research, with faculty in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center's Division of Gerontology and with colleagues throughout the world.

We partner with a handful of local MSN programs to help provide clinical training to Nurse Practitioner students who have secured an internship or practicum with an HSL employed Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Physician.

Students are encouraged to solicit their own preceptor. Once selected for an internship or practicum please reach out to Alex to confirm dates and preceptor.
