Description

The Expressive Therapy training is offered at our senior housing site; Community Centers of Brookline (CCB). Expressive therapists provide psychosocial support to HSL patients and residents who experience difficulties adjusting to aging, transitioning to a communal living, health status change, memory impairment, depression, anxiety, etc. They use non-verbal modalities of music, movement, and art as vehicles for achieving clinical goals. We offer both group and individual treatment. Members of the ET staff are highly skilled in their primary modality and are seasoned counselors. We have an impressive record of our former trainees who are successfully employed in the expressive therapy and mental health counseling fields. We provide students with weekly supervision by certified expressive therapist and approved LMHC supervisor as appropriate. The CCB campus is accessible by MBTA.

Training Objectives:
·Interns will be offered an opportunity to co-lead and lead 2-3 groups per week, depending on their year in training, either in an office or the client's apartment
·Opportunity to see individual residents and prepare case study presentation
·Interns will have time to prepare their groups and get feedback from their supervisor
·Interns will experience the benefits of being on an interdisciplinary team and have the opportunity to attend team meetings and to collaborate with other disciplines to provide support for their clients
